TŌKYŌ-KAN

Ich bin in Tokyo. Mein Blick springt von Reiz zu Reiz, sucht Ruhepunkte und Vergleichsmöglichkeiten. Meine Fotokamera klickt. Die Megacity Tokyo scheint wie eine Stadt der Zeichen und Verweise, deren Enden ins Leere laufen. Was ist Original und was Kopie? Darf ich in maximalschnellen Verkehrsströmen langsam gehen? Kann ich zum Fotografieren stehen bleiben? Ist mein Wohnzimmer die Stadt? Und sind diese Fragen in Tokyo die richtigen?
Die aus zwei Büchern bestehende Arbeit TŌKYŌ-KAN ist eine fotografische, tagebuchfragmentarische und theoretische Untersuchung des Stadt- und Lebensraumes Tokyo und der Figur des Flâneur in der postmodernen Stadt.

TŌKYŌ-KAN

I am in Tokyo. My view is bouncing from stimulus to stimulus, is searching for points of rest and possibilities of comparison. My camera is clicking. Tokyo seems to be a megacity of signs and links whose ends are loose. What is an original and what is a copy? May I walk slowly in maximum-rapid flow of traffic? Can I stop for taking photos? Is my living room the city? And are these questions the right ones in Tokyo?
TŌKYŌ-KAN, a work consisting of two books, is a photographic, diary-fragmentary and theoretic exploration of the city- and livingspace Tokyo and the character of the Flâneur in the postmodern city.
